The kitchen... well we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. However we are sick, sick, sick over the sink! It was supposed to be light blue, however, it has a touch of purple in it. It sticks out like a sore thumb.
I love the turtle back spash! Currently, Joe is tiling the walls, the counters are done. I finally got to use the new stove last weekend. It's been sitting in the living room for 6 months.
I scrambled eggs and made us a muffin sandwich (Eggs, sausage, cheese on a grilled English muffin). Lets say this, the eggs were well, sorta crunchy. I have to get the hang of the new elements and new cookware. I had to toss my beloved teflon skillets, they are not suitable for the smooth surface. Gesh, I forgot how bad things stick to non-teflon coated skillets!
The stove is pretty cool. You can turn the element knob to the left and it fits a small pan, or turn the element knob to the right and it fits the large size pans. I have 4 racks in the oven (heck, I never used the 2 in the last oven!) I'm a microwave/convention kind of gal.
Love the new dish washer. It's so quite I can't hear it (becareful there... Joe can't hear it either). I had to learn to use it too. I started it Sunday Morning, came back to unload it at noon, and the dishes were still like I left them. I didn't know there was a "start" button to push. My other dishwasher started when the door's lever secured the door in place.
We got a wall phone so that I could get all the stuff off the counter tops. But dh installed it a bit too high. He was thinking it would be more upright than it actually is. He had to knock out a hole in the concrete wall to mount it. He said it was as good as it was going to get! I told him it was alright, I could get a step ladder and stand on it when I needed to use it. hehehe... he didn't laugh!
Anyhow, next weekend we will have the walls finished. Then the following week we'll put out Halloween stuff out (takes a full weekend to do that!), and then...comes the flooring!!!
I suspect by the end of October everything will be done except the baseboards. Cutting all those pieces will be time consuming. Especially the closets. We are leaving the purple carpet in my sewing room, and the white in his weight room, but everythng else (where carpet is) will become the floating wood flooring. We paid a small fortune for it, we got the best we could find. We are not planning on doing this again.
For sure there will be photos as soon as the walls are done in the kitchen (next weekend) and then ful shots as soon as the flooring is done.
The only thing we didn't replace is the refrigerator. It's only 3 years old, so we'll be keeping it for a few more years.
