I tell you what, these homeowner insurance companies are going to run us out of Florida!
You might have heard, but Flordia allowed State Farm and Nation Wide to increase their premiums by 56%. Hey... they wanted 79%!
One lady wrote into our newspaper that she has been with State Farm for 35 years and received her yearly August invoice last week -- to see her home insurance go from $1,200 to over $4,000. No, that's not a typo! This particular lady lives in a MOBILE HOME!!!!
The average $250K home will go from $2500 to $6000.
We haven't gotten ours yet, but our house is appraised at $325K. So you can see what we are going to get socked with. We have NEVER, EVER turned in one claim! Not ever! When we've had damage from Hurricanes, we paid to have it fixed out of our own pocket. And this is what we get in return.
Who the hell can pay home insurance that high? I suspect you'll see a whole lot of people retiring from thier jobs in Florida and moving out of the state. That's the only way they can survive!
